JANUARY WEATHER DATA

JANUARY WEATHER DATA

It was a quiet month for hail to start off 2025. Hail fell only three days out of the whole month and impacted four different states: Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. All the storms were relatively small and were not widespread. The largest hail spotted was only one inch.

As we near the start of hail season, we should begin to slowly see more consistent days when it hails and larger storms as well. Many states are still experiencing colder temperatures, which can keep hailstorms at bay, though we should start to see temperatures rise in the coming months.

THE BEST ROOFING SOLUTIONS FOR INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS

THE BEST ROOFING SOLUTIONS FOR INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS

Choosing the right roof for an industrial building is a big decision that can impact energy efficiency, durability and maintenance costs for years to come. With so many roofing systems available, understanding the strengths and challenges of each option is essential. Let’s break down the best types of roofs for industrial buildings and why partnering with the right contractor makes all the difference.

Flat Roofs – TPO, EPDM and PVC

Flat roofing systems, which often include TPO, PVC and EPDM membranes, offer a practical and cost-effective solution for industrial buildings. These systems are lightweight, flexible and resistant to UV rays and chemical exposure — important factors for protecting your building from the elements.

When choosing between TPO and EPDM, property owners should weigh the specific needs of their building. TPO offers superior energy efficiency with its heat-reflective properties, while EPDM provides excellent durability and weather resistance. When you partner with Stellar, our team can offer guidance to help you choose the best roofing solution for your property.

Metal Roofs

For industrial buildings that require unmatched durability and weather resistance, a metal roof could be your best option. Metal roofs can last 40 years or more with minimal maintenance. In addition to their longevity, metal roofs are highly fire-resistant and offer energy efficiency benefits through their natural reflectivity and insulating capabilities.

Metal roofs are ideal for industrial buildings in regions that experience extreme weather conditions, as they stand up well to high winds, hail and heavy rain. Though the upfront cost may be higher than other roofing options, the long-term savings on energy and repairs often make metal roofing a smart investment.

Factors To Consider for an Industrial Roof Replacement

When the time comes to replace an industrial roof, several important factors should guide the decision-making process. Climate and weather conditions play a huge role in determining which materials will perform best over time. Additionally, setting energy efficiency goals and calculating potential cost savings can help property owners choose a roof that not only protects their building but also reduces utility expenses.

Maintenance requirements and long-term ROI are also critical considerations. A new roof is a significant investment, so it’s important to think about how much upkeep it will require and how long it will provide reliable protection. Finally, insurance implications can vary depending on the type of roof you choose, especially in areas prone to hail or storm damage.
